Living with chronically difficult health creates challenges that can make even the simplest tasks too difficult to manage. Coaching offers a safe, supportive place where you can put your focus on what you want and is achievable. When you are guided by someone with the right mix of expertise, you are stacking the odds in your favor so you can improve your chances for success.
I’m passionate about giving people who live with debilitating health challenges the tools and support they need to thrive, not just survive, in their work and personal lives. I know, first-hand, what it takes to confront the unique set of challenges that you face while juggling your health and the rest of your life. Over the past 15 years, I have written and published on this subject, developed specific materials that are designed to speed learning, and worked with many hundreds of people who care about their careers and want to continue to work to the best of their capacity while living chronic illness.
Living with chronic illness and working with a coach are a powerful combination that has the potential to yield long lasting, positive change. At the minimum, you can expect to:
- Identify what you want to be different
- Clarify how your chronic health challenges currently impact your work and
- Develop your capacity to discover the opportunities for change
- Cultivate and reinforce the strengths you have
- Explore new behaviors and develop new competencies that support the desired outcomes you seek.
I understand if you’re thinking, “Sounds great, but I don’t have the resources to do this–the time, energy or money.” I coach on the phone which saves your time and physical energy, keeps the cost down and allows greater flexibility for our meeting times. Each session follows a similar rhythm. We review what’s happened since we spoke last, identify what you want to focus on in the current call, explore that issue, and design practice homework for our next call. It’s a simple format that allows you to know what to expect while also giving you enough room to dance.
There is no standard regarding the duration of a coaching engagement. Some work with me for 6 to 12 months, others for 3 months, and others for years. I have found that at a minimum, it takes a three to four calls to get traction and another three to four to implement significant change that sticks.
I look forward to the possibility of discovering what I can do to improve the quality of your life while living with difficult health.
