Hooray for Pearl Jam's Mike McCready who shares what it's like to be on the road with crohn's

November 29, 2007 by Rosalind Joffe Leave a Comment

mccready_mike_small.jpg Mike McCready, Pearl Jam guitarist, talks about (click here to see and read the slide show on Health Talk’s site) crohn’s disease and the crunch of getting “slammed” while he’s in concert. If you live with UC or Crohn’s you know what he’s talking about (ok, maybe you’re not opening for the Stones).

When I was a multi media producer, I was running the programmer for the visuals while an actress was on stage in front of hundreds … and suddenly: Yow, there’s the colitis! Luckily, I had back up and someone I could turn it over to — barely made it to the bathroom. Luckily had an extra set of clothes!

I used to joke I was a “boy scout” – always prepared!

McCready talks about how supportive his band mates are!! That’s the trick, isn’t it?

What have you found works for you — so you can keep from singing the “working man’s blues?”
