I read that the actress, Kathleen Turner, is directing a play in Williamstown, MA this summer. I’ll bet you didn’t know that Ms. Turner lives with rheumatoid arthritis.
I have a hunch that she’s turning towards directing because it might be an easier life for her . And it might be easier for her to be successful in this job.
It took her many years to get a diagnosis and she’s struggled with the impact this had on her career. At one point she decided to move to Europe where, she said, image isn’t as important.
I first noticed her in Body Heat. Was there any actress that conveyed more sexuality through her voice? Does it matter that she gained weight from the medicines from RA? Yes, I guess it does.
I propose an award to Kathleen Turner for making it work while living with chronic disease!
I’m going to publish other stories of girlfriends, (they don’t have to be famous), who are figuring out how to make it work while living with a chronic disease.Â
Send me your suggestions: real name with a description and I’ll post them here.

Thanks for continuing to produce this great – and good-looking – resource! I love the award idea, and I bet Kathleen will appreciate it too. Will think about who I could nominate ….
